National Intellectual Property Awards 2025

Recognizing Excellence in Innovation

The National Intellectual Property (IP) Awards 2025 aim to celebrate innovation, creativity, and the effective use of intellectual property across India. Organized annually by the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, these awards acknowledge individuals, institutions, startups, and organizations that have significantly contributed to strengthening India’s IP ecosystem.

Objective of the Awards

The awards not only recognize the filing and grant of patents, trademarks, designs, and geographical indications (GIs) but also emphasize their commercialization and practical application. By honoring achievers, the initiative encourages a culture of innovation and inspires others to leverage IP as a strategic tool for growth in manufacturing, services, and research.

Award Categories

The 2025 edition features 13 categories covering a wide spectrum of stakeholders, including:

  • Individuals (Male, Female, Child Innovators, Third Gender) for achievements in patents, designs, and trademarks.
  • Academic and R&D Institutions for patents filing and commercialization.
  • Companies (manufacturing and service sectors), MSMEs, and startups excelling in IP creation.
  • Geographical Indications (GI) for best promotion and protection in India and abroad.
  • Enforcement of IPRs, recognizing the best police units, cyber cells, and customs offices combating IP violations.
  • Incubators for nurturing innovation and supporting startups in IP-related ventures.

Special citations will honor Technology and Innovation Support Centers (TISC), Patent Information Centres (PIC), Institution Innovation Councils (IICs), and Atal Tinkering Laboratories (ATL)

Awards and Recognition

Each winner will receive a trophy, citation, and a cash prize of ₹1,00,000. The awards are designed to highlight both the quantity (filing and grants) and the quality (commercial utilization, licensing, exports, and brand creation) of intellectual property.

To further global recognition, select categories will also be linked to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Awards, including:

  • WIPO Medal for Inventors
  • WIPO IP Enterprises Trophy
  • WIPO Users Trophy
